Marina di Valletta will be welcoming the Trophee Bailli de Suffren fleet between the 4th and 5th July.
The famed Trophee Bailli de Suffren Race is 580-nautical mile race, which starts in Saint Tropez and includes stop overs in Porto Rotondo, Trapani, and finally the Maltese islands. For the second time in the race’s’ history, the race finish will be in Gozo.
Competing yachts are generally divided into three categories – Vintage, Classic, and Spirit of Tradition.
Named after Pierre Andre de Suffren, who was Vice Admiral of the French fleet and a Knight of Malta, the title of Bailli was given by the Order of Malta. De Suffren was known by his sailors and his enemies (particularly the British) as ‘Admiral Satan’. To date, seven ships of the French navy have borne the name of Suffren in his honour. His statue dominates the quayside in Saint Tropez.
The Trophée Bailli de Suffren will leave Gozo for a Parade of Sail on the 4th July when it will berth at Marina di Valletta.
A Prize Giving evening will then take place at the Royal Malta Yacht Club.

Marina di Valletta will be home to the Malta-Syracuse Race fleet.
Dating back to the sixties, the Malta-Syracuse Race, organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club in conjunction with the Lega Navale Italiana (Sezione Siracusa), is one of the oldest races on the Club’s calendar.
The Malta-Syracuse Race, is an 85 nautical mile race that typically attracts a strong fleet, and the start of the race alternates each year, one year starting from Malta and the next starting from Syracuse.
In 2018 the race will start in Malta on the 14th July and participating yachts will be berthed at the Marina di Valletta. This is following an agreement of co-operation between the Royal Malta Yacht Club and the Marina.

The Esprit Yachting team was in charge of a very special delivery in May, when it delivered four brand new Azimut Yachts – Azimut S7, Azimut 60 Flybridge, and two Azimut Atlantis 51.
The fleet made its way from Marina di Varazze to Marina di Valletta where they were delivered to their proud owners.
Here’s wishing their new owners a season full of great memories at sea amongst friends and family!
We couldn’t resist not sharing some photos of the boats upon their arrival in Malta!
